Colleen Mescall, MHA/E, CPC, CPC-I, CPMA, AAPC ICD-10 Instructor

Instructor

Colleen has worked in the health care field for over 34 years; in 2000, she became a Certified Professional Coder with the AAPC. Colleen started teaching at a local college in 2004 and in 2008 became a Certified Professional Coding instructor. She is also a Certified Professional Medical Auditor and ICD-10 Instructor. In November 2011, Colleen obtained her master’s in health administration with an Emphasis on Education.


Colleen has worked in the billing, coding, audit, training, and registration areas of health care industry in a variety of settings, working with hospitals, group practices and for the Department of Defense. Colleen also teaches coding and billing in Richmond Va. Colleen’s current position as the Associate Director of Outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is to provide education and feedback to both coders and providers, to oversee quality assurance for coding services and to work with providers to ensure documentation is complete to optimize coding.


When not working Colleen loves to travel, go on cruises, and spend time with her nieces, nephews and great niece.
